Rather than have several more small posts about several items that built up over the holiday hiatus, here is another speed round.

New Blog: My friend from way back has decided to start a blog called Soul Ronin in the 33rd Century. Go over there and encourage him to post more!

I got my Christmas wish and got a 24 inch widescreen monitor for my home computer along with a G15 keyboard so I can see who is talking on Teamspeak on its mini LCD display. Love the monitor, love the new keyboard... just need a more powerful computer now :P

Turns out CNRs are not invulnerable. I got that mission that sends you to retrieve a case of Quafe from a warhouse and rats show up to ambush you? Well, the first tiny wave was a joke but the second wave was deadly! I nearly died, warping out with 11% shield left even with my X-Large Shield Booster running. Very nervewracking.

The above happened on the Alliance mission day we had on the past weekend. I was working for a level four agent about 10 jumps from home and had only taken my CNR with me. However, this particular agent gave me 2 regular kill missions, the aforementioned ambush mission, several courier missions, and two missions that gave no bounties because one was against Caldari nationals and the other against Amarr navy. I rejected the Amarr navy one due to being worried about becoming shoot-on-site in Amarr high sec. Sigh. Needless to say I did not make the gobs of ISK for the corp that I wanted despite multiple hours of missions.

I also got an IPod Shuffle for Christmas to try out listening to podcasts. I couldn't listen to them at home because I'm far to busy with the twins and can't concentrate on them at work, and I'm far too lazy to download them and burn them to CDs to listen to in the car while commuting to work, so the Shuffle seemed like a good idea.
I'm so glad I got it: listening to the podcasts have been great fun and I'm definitely going to download all the Eve related 'casts I can find. Expect a review of them later in the week.

I admit a passing thought occurred to me to make my own podcast... No no stop it! You don't need more on your plate! You fool!

That's all for now.
Just think about the fact that a podcast would mean less content for your blog.
ReplyDeleteThat seems the case with a lot of the podcasts.
Keep your blog continuously awesome, please.
P.S.
Changed my display from Alex.
How do you find the podcast you want on a shuffle, given that it does not have a screen?
ReplyDelete1. Will checkout that blog.
ReplyDelete2. I also got a G15 keyboard and made a few macros for those long APing trips.
3. Podcasts are cool to listen to, but seem to be a pain to make.
Cool beans :]
Yeah, I thought about the fact that a podcast would divert material from the blog unless I talked about different things. So consider an extremely idle thought. Especially since I can write so much better than I can speak!
ReplyDeleteAs for the shuffle, I just let the podcasts play in the order the shuffle delivers them up to me, and as soon as I finish them I delete them from the shuffle when I get home. Its not perfect, but if it works out then next year I'll upgrade to an ipod with a screen like my wife's new Ipod Nano.
I got a shuffle for Christmas last year and have enjoyed it all year. I want to upgrade to a Nano however, because I'd like to regain control over the order I listen to things in, AND be able to load it with a music/podcast mix and be able to filter.
ReplyDeleteI so want one of those keyboards. Add yet another thing to my "Technolust" list of must-haves. Couldn't live without my iPod (the 30Gig model that plays video). Besides gaming podcats, there are so many other good ones. And audiobooks...total addiction. I even put Clear Skies on mine so I can watch it or share it with friends if I wish.
ReplyDeleteBased on the ebb and flow of EVE podcasts, I'd say they are a huge time sink; blogging is a lot less demanding. But I sure do understand the allure of wanting to do one. I've entertained the thought myself.
