In the Eve blogosphere, its possible to get a feeling of being important to the Eve community at large. Positive feedback in the form of comments, tweets, and links from other blogs can feed the impression that you are well known in the game.
Recently I've had a fair number of compliments and I figured it was time to bring myself back down to earth.
In April, I had an average of 310 visits per day which I feel is pretty good for a blog that doesn't receive the official recognition from CCP that CrazyKinux and Roc Weiler's efforts do (well deserved recognition mind you).
The Eve Tribune gets an average of 1907 per day in April. Over two thousand in February. Visits. Per day.
The morale of the story is that the game is far bigger than the rather insular blogosphere and its important to never forget that.
You're way ahead of me; being new-ish and not in the "official blog pack" really sticks it to the readership numbers.
ReplyDeleteAh yes the blog pack makes you feel as a big player but I also only get 200 visits a day on average and 300 on posting days.
ReplyDeleteI do however get the occasional private convo request in-game from alliance members that figured out I'm "The Elitist"
Parity: Write good content and you might get a 400 people/day spike, had that before I joined the blog pack.
Being "virtually famous" amounts to nothing in the end.
ReplyDeleteFor me, success is measured by my ability to sleep soundly each and every night, satisfied that I have accomplished that which I set out to do.
Insignificant? Hardly.
I have great respect for your opinions, and enjoy your blog often.
Satisfy the audience of one, yourself.
The only thing you need to worry about is the people that have found your blog and KEEP coming back. Dont worry about the unfortunate ones... they will find you in good time.
ReplyDelete300 odd visits a day is nothing to sneeze at! Remember the MMO community itself is tiny compared to most other niches.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think your blog is great and really enjoy reading it.
There's been a glitch in the Matrix...
