We started with a concept of a visualization tree which would give players high level information at a glance regarding the different roles and purposes of factions, ship groups and ships in the game. One of the first things we did was create icons for the ship groups in the game. This will exist in the ISIS only to begin with, but if these icons prove successful in giving quick feedback on ship groups, we don't see why they couldn't be used in other areas of the game.
Yes, please, let's get this into the overview and icons in space! They've toyed with this idea in the past as evidenced by what I found on SISI one day, and its something I've suggested time and time again.
Its time to get rid of those old square icons, make it happen CCP!
